Route introduction: The route starts at Daxue Road and passes by Qiushi Academy, which is still undergoing internal renovation and improvement. The century-old history of Zhejiang University can be seen along the route. After passing the thousand-year-old ginkgo tree, you will arrive at the entrance of the reopened Daxue branch of the Zhejiang Library. There, you can learn the story behind the library building, which combines Chinese and Western styles. Just a hundred meters away from Zhejiang Library is Fengyumaolu, the former residence of Yu Dafu, a famous Chinese short story writer and a frequent visitor to Zhejiang Library. Finally, there is Kuixiang Lane, a lane formed before the Southern Song Dynasty, where many famous people took up residence. This road is full of never-ending stories from the past. The extraordinary times and glittering historical figures who rest in this densely populated residential area have integrated the scholarly atmosphere and cultural context into the modern world's hustle and bustle.

Route introduction: Youbu Soy Milk on Zhongshan South Road is a morning drink beloved by Hangzhou people. Here, a beautiful day usually begins with a cup of soy milk from Youbu Soy Milk and some pieces of Congbaohui at Grandma Sun's or Aunt Wu's. After satisfying your stomach, walk across Chenghuangpailou Lane to Wushan Hill and hike to the top of Wushan Hill to see Chenghuang Pavilion.

Once an imperial field where emperors personally carried out spring ploughing during the Southern Song Dynasty, the Eight-Diagram Field has now become a colorful tourist attraction for citizens. Opposite Eight-Diagram Field is the Southern Song Dynasty Imperial Kiln Museum, where the beauty of porcelain made in the Southern Song Dynasty Imperial Kiln that has gone through 1000 years of vicissitudes can be appreciated.

Route introduction: Do you know where you can enjoy two "Ten Scenes of West Lake" at one time? It’s in Jingci Temple. There, by raising your eyes, you can enjoy "Leifeng Pagoda in Evening Glow" and by pricking up your ears, you can hear "Evening Bell at Nanping Hill". Jingci Temple is located on the south shore of West Lake, at the foot of Huiri Peak on Nanping Hill. Leifeng Pagoda faces it across West Lake, and Nanping Hill embraces it from behind. It enjoys the best location in the entire West Lake Scenic Area.

Route introduction: Wugong Mountain is a treasured place for many old Hangzhou residents to have morning tea and take their pet birds for a walk. They’d hang their bird cages in the trees in a row that is so long that one can’t see the end of it. You can join them and gain some knowledge about almost everything. To the accompaniment of birdsong, a little chat with a bird owner can prove a great time and a gentle one at that.

We will then decide the final route of this Hangzhou Citywalk based on the votes we receive. Three to four participants will be selected to experience the route in Hangzhou, China.
  • Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, TV and Tourism reserves the right of final explanations.
  • Voting will take place between 8 January 2024 and 15 January 2024.
