Eight-Diagram Field is the imperial land of the Southern Song Dynasty, which shows the farming culture and the ceremonial culture of the Southern Song Dynasty imperial land. According to the "West Lake Tour" records, "There was an imperial land of the Southern Song Dynasty among the places of interest of Nanshan under Tianlong Temple. It was shaped like an eight-diagram pattern and commonly known as Nine-Grid Eight-Diagram Field." In the sixteenth year of Shaoxing of Emperor Gaozong of the Song Dynasty (1146), Zhao Gou held a grand pro-farming ceremony in Eight-Diagram Field.
Eight-Diagram Field was shaped in the Southern Song Dynasty like eight trigrams, with a gross area of about 90 mu (60,000 sq m), lying at the foot of Jade Emperor Hill (Yuhuang Hill). In four seasons, eight kinds of grains grow in the Eight-Diagram Field, presenting eight different colors. Apart from some historical relics, visitors can see beautiful rape flowers in spring.
