Hangzhou Hiking Tour
The trip starts in the morning, when we start our climb from the foot of the hill by Yellow Dragon Cave and continue all the way to the top to see the Baochu Pagoda.
Baochu Pagoda, originally called Yingshang Pagoda, was constructed between 968 and 975 during the Northern Song Dynasty. Legend has it that after founding the Northern Song Dynasty, Zhao Kuangyin, the new emperor, called the king of Wuyue, Qian Chu, to the capital at Kaifeng. Qian Chu’s uncle, Wu Yanshuang, prayed for his safe return and had this inspiring pagoda constructed, naming it Baochu Pagoda – Tower of Blessing Chu.
It is situated on Precious Stone Hill. Originally called Shimu Hill or Baoshu Hill, the hill consists of rhyolite and tough rocks, which shine dazzlingly bright in the sun like real jaspers. Odd shaped stones are scattered on the hill, such as Yiyuan Stone, Tunxia Stone, Fengxiang Stone, and Luoxin Stone. It is for this reason that it is named Precious Stone Hill. In particular, Baochu Pagoda and many purple rocks on the hill sparkle like inlaid diamonds in the morning or evening sunlight. Hence, this panoramic scene is known as Precious Stone Hill Floating in Rosy Clouds.
Local people often come here simply for leisure time or for doing morning exercises. Climbing the hill you will breathe the fresh air and enjoy a moment of quietude. You will be especially surprised when getting to the top of the hill, an excellent view of the West Lake will materialize in front of you like a beautiful Chinese water painting.
