Day 1 Fang Hui Chun Tang
Burning Chinese Mugwort
Every year during the Dragon Boat Festival, Fang Hui Chun Tang burns mugwort for blessing. Adults and children gather around, letting the fragrance of mugwort linger on the body and smoke the joints to get rid of moisture in the body.
Painting the Chinese Character "王(King)"
On the Dragon Boat Festival, there is a custom of painting children's foreheads with realgar wine. The typical method is to use realgar wine to draw the Chinese character "王" on the forehead. Traditionally, realgar is used to repel insects, and the fierce tiger (the Chinese character "王" resembles the pattern on a tiger's forehead and the tiger is the king of the beasts, hence the Chinese character "王" is used to symbolize tiger) is used to suppress evil. Drawing the Chinese character "王" for children is a reserved project of Fang Hui Chun Tang's annual Dragon Boat Festival. Adults will also draw the Chinese character "王" on their arms for blessing.
Wearing Sachets
Wearing sachets is a folk custom of the Dragon Boat Festival, and it is also a method of preventing plague in ancient times. There are more than ten styles of sachets made by Fang Hui Chun Tang, and the filling contains pure Chinese medicinal materials. Fang Hui Chun Tang will also invite children and teach them to make a handmade sachet.
Going to the Temple Fair
During the Dragon Boat Festival, there is a small temple fair in Fang Hui Chun Tang, where citizens can visit the fair, play games, and experience traditional folk activities.
