On April 13, the 2025 “Spring Voices” Hangzhou Music Festival launched with a spectacular opening concert at the Hangzhou Grand Theatre Opera House. Running through April 27, the festival will present 37 performances, weaving global influences, Chinese traditions, and diverse genres, from symphonies to folk music.

The event features three international ensembles and over 60 acclaimed artists from Italy, the UK, Germany, France, Austria, the USA, Argentina, and beyond. A highlight is the solo recital by piano maestro Rudolf Buchbinder.

Celebrating 55 years of China-Italy diplomatic ties in 2025, the “Italian Art Series” will shine brightly.

Steeped in Chinese heritage, the festival includes performances inspired by classics like the Tao Te Ching and Tang Dynasty poetry, with artists crafting music from Chinese philosophy and literature. A folk-inspired Chinese concert will feature the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Folk Orchestra reimagining iconic martial arts film scores from legendary novelist Jin Yong’s works.

Beyond the main stage, concerts will reach local theaters and schools, joined by events like British jazz pianist Will Pickvance’s Anatomy of the Piano: On the Moon, a captivating return to China after his 2017 tour, blending piano mastery with a moonlit musical adventure, and a themed lecture by flutist Yunfei Li.

Join the 2025 “Spring Voices” Hangzhou Music Festival for an unforgettable fusion of global and Chinese artistry!
