Designed by Wang Shu, the first Chinese architect to win the Pritzker Architecture Prize, Lin'an Museum is located along Gongchen Mountain and adopts the Half-Sided Mountain and Water structure created by Li Tang, a Song Dynasty painter. In terms of architectural form, it combines local characteristics of Lin'an, such as rammed earth walls and block stone walls. The museum covers an area of 10,500 square meters and was officially opened to the public on January 28, 2019.

With an exhibition area of 3,550 square meters, it is divided into the Basic Exhibition Hall, the Excellent Exhibit Hall, and the Temporary Exhibition Hall. The Basic Exhibition Hall reflects the basic history and culture of Lin'an. The Excellent Exhibit Hall showcases materials and cultural relics related to the Mausoleum of the King of Wuyue and members of the royal family, reflecting the prosperity and wealth of Wuyue Kingdom as "the Land of Happiness in Southeast China" and the development level of the society and the economy at that time. The Temporary Exhibition Hall is mainly used for periodic exhibitions, inter-museum exchanges, and introduced exhibitions.

Lin'an Museum is not only a county-level museum but also a museum of the history of the Wuyue Kingdom. It is the gene bank of Wuyue Kingdom culture and the most abundant, comprehensive, and systematic window to showcase the culture and relics of the Wuyue Kingdom during the Five Dynasties period.
