On September 21, the Qiandao Lake Tunnel Art Museum officially opened its doors to visitors. Located in the Xialangwu Tunnel along the greenway in the northeastern lakeside area of Qiandao Lake, this museum is China's first open "unwalled art museum." It features an integrated path for pedestrians and cyclists within the tunnel.
The museum includes a digital light exhibition hall, a Qianlijiangshan mural hall, and an international art hall. It creatively utilizes the tunnel's natural space, showcasing grid screens, vibrant graffiti, and fluorescent paint to highlight unique artistic expressions, rich cultural heritage, and cutting-edge digital technology.
The Qianlijiangshan Mural Hall features the Song Dynasty masterpiece "Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" by Wang Ximeng, presented on the tunnel's mural. Through artistic interpretation, this piece transcends time and space, resonating with the natural beauty and cultural depth of Qiandao Lake. It offers visitors an immersive sensory experience of Eastern landscape aesthetics.
Qiandao Lake was formed during the construction of the Xin'anjiang Reservoir, which boasts 1,078 islands. This unique formation has led to an intricate transportation network of bridges and tunnels, contributing to a distinctive regional landscape.
With the completion and enhancement of transportation facilities such as the Qiandao-Huangshan Expressway, the Hangzhou-Huangshan High-Speed Railway, and the lakeside highway, tunnels are continually being illuminated and beautified. Notably, some tunnels that became idle after optimizing the transportation network have been artistically transformed.
The opening of the Qiandao Lake Tunnel Art Museum is a significant achievement in this context, providing a fresh cultural experience for all.
This new route marks the beginning of the autumn cycling season with the slogan "Cycle Around Qiandao Lake: A Must in This Lifetime!" With the National Day holiday approaching, be sure to check it out!
