Song Dynasty Coins

During the Song Dynasty, the official coin workshops mainly used the master coin sand-casting method to make coins. The production technology was mature and standardized. During the Southern Song Dynasty, the Shenquan Mint in Yanzhou minted the first dated coin in Chinese history. The obverse read "Chunxi Yuanbao" and the reverse had the character "Qi," representing the seventh year of the Chunxi era.

The museum houses many circulating coins from the Northern and Southern Song periods, with a wide variety and editions, such as Chunhua Yuanbao and Yuanyou Tongbao, showcasing a glorious page in the history of Chinese coinage.
