The movable type printing invented by Bi Sheng in the Northern Song Dynasty was a major improvement in printing, but the description of "a leaf of Song woodblock printing book, one tale (ounce) gold" is still used to refer to woodblock printing by people. Woodblock printing was more developed in the Song than in previous dynasties, and the technique was perfected. Zhejiang Library's two collections "New Issue of Collected Famous Officials' Stele Biographies", and "Imperial College's New Addition of Elites and Their Stories" are very precious Song Dynasty block-printed editions.
