Hangzhou Yang Lingzi School

Founded in 1983, Hangzhou Yang Lingzi School was officially opened in 1984. The school has a total of 20 classes, from preschool to vocational high school, 215 students (aged 4 - 20 years old), and 81 faculty members; it is the model school of intellectual disability in Zhejiang Province.

In the past 30 years, the school focused on the belief that “respect life with heart, educate people by love”, through the implementation of “the combination of medicine and education” to carry out the early intervention of children with intellectual disability; the school carries out the research and exploration of the education mode "1 + X" in pre-school. The school opened a 7+5 curriculum at the stage of compulsory education, making individualized education plans for each student, and actively adopting flexible life-oriented teaching to promote students' growth. The vocational high school of intellectual disability was founded in 1999. It was the first in the country. Now, it establishes seven main courses and six minor courses, such as pastry making room service, car washing, and so on. The Wisdom Tree Service Society for People with Disabilities was established in December 2014. It is a workshop where Hangzhou Yang Lingzi School provides vocational training and employment for vocational high school students with intellectual disabilities and graduates.

Acting as the Special Education Resource Center of Shangcheng District, the school provides top-quality special education service for students who have special education needs in ordinary schools. Through years of efforts, the school gradually constructs the inclusive education work mode in urban areas, that is, "zero reject, full coverage, multi-module, and supportive". The school has won the national special education advanced unit, the national woman civilization station, advanced organization of work for the disabled in Zhejiang Province, one of the outstanding access points of international tourism resources in Hangzhou, and many other national, provincial and municipal honors more than twenty.
