Alipay

In Hangzhou, you can use the "Alipay" app to make in-store payments, pay for public transportation (public bus, subway, and taxi), rent public bicycles, purchase bus and train tickets, make check-outs on most Chinese-based websites, etc. It can also be used to pay social security rates, medical insurance rates, education fees, and utility bills such as water and electricity online.


Digital Renminbi

Digital renminbi is a central bank digital currency issued by China's central bank, the People's Bank of China. It is the first digital currency to be issued by a major economy, undergoing public testing as of April 2021. On April 2, 2022, the testing of the digital renminbi was further expanded to six additional regions, including Hangzhou. In Hangzhou, people can use the digital renminbi app to pay for consumption. At present, the digital renminbi has formed a number of application models covering both online and offline, which can be replicated and promoted in wholesale and retail, catering, cultural and tourism industry, and government payments.


WeChat Pay

WeChat Pay, a digital wallet service incorporated into WeChat, allows users to perform mobile payments and online transactions. Users who have provided their bank account details can use the app for various financial transactions, such as paying bills, making purchases, transferring money to other users, and even making in-store payments if the store supports WeChat payments.
