Yellow Dragon Cave Dressed in Green

This scenic spot is located at the northern foot of Qixia Ridge beside the West Lake. In the “twenty-four scenes in Hangzhou” of the Qing Dynasty, there was a scene called “Yellow Dragon Cave Accumulated with Green”, from which the scene called “Yellow Dragon Cave Dressed in Green” was born. The phrase “pour out” highlights the peculiar scene: the mouth of the dragon protrudes out between the spring pool and the steep cliff, pouring water out, and the waterfall’s curtain appears to hang upside down.

The Yellow Dragon Cave was a Buddhist resort during the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties and was changed into a Taoist Temple in the early days of the Republic of China era. In the front is a courtyard with holes and ditches in the back. The Yellow Dragon Cave, integrating both real and artificial hills and both natural scenery and artificial construction, is one of the most elegant and secluded gardens. In 1985, the Yellow Dragon Cave, integrating the connotation of religious culture and the landscape of temples and gardens, was built into an imitation antique playground. From the mountain gate of the Yellow Dragon Cave to the second gate, there is a long and winding trail, containing many scenes for appreciation, such as ancient trees and long bamboo, flowers and grasses, clear pools, low walls, and leaking windows.
