Su Causeway in the Morning of Spring

苏堤(苏堤春晓).jpg

Su Causeway in the Morning of Spring, the first of the Ten Poetically Named Scenic Places of the West Lake in the Southern Song Dynasty, consists of the ancient causeway across the lake, of which the main features are the six bridges, the willows, and the peach blossoms. It was formed by silt from dredging the West Lake. Besides the scenery of willows and bridges in the mist, there is also the beautiful landscape along the causeway, which resembles an unwinding scroll painting. It has been the best place to admire the panoramic view of the lake since ancient times. It is located in the western part of the lake, about 500m from the western shore, with an area of about 9.66 ha.
