In 2004, Hangzhou Qiuzhi Primary School "revived" the traditional skill of silk tie-dyeing, which had been lost for thousands of years and was identified as the District's Intangible Cultural Heritage Project in 2008. In the same year, the school-based course of silk tie-dyeing was issued by Hangzhou Publishing House. Hangzhou Qiuzhi Primary School held a special art event for the Classroom Festival of the International Education Innovation Conference and co-organized the 9th World Textile Annual Conference, becoming an experience place of Hangzhou's quality of life for ten years. The school has been reported in dozens of media such as CCTV, People's Daily Online, Hangzhou Daily and Hangzhou TV Station, as well as has been rated at the National Advanced Unit of Art Education, the National Traditional Culture Inheritance School and at the Top 20 of International Experience Points in Hangzhou.
These activities allow the participants to understand the history and culture of silk tie-dyeing through multiple channels, plus experiencing the artistic charm of silk tie-dyeing from diverse angles. The experimenters create poetic tie-dyeing works through binding, boiling, dyeing, bleaching and other processes; furthermore, they can accede to this ancient "intangible cultural heritage" while harvesting creative achievements.
The site has an experience venue of about 500 square meters, which can receive more than 100 people at the same time. The best reception experience time is from 8:30 to 16:00 on weekdays. Each experience lasts 90 minutes.
