Pingyao Old Street - The Memory of the City

The Pingyao Old Street is located in the northwest suburb of the city of Hangzhou. It is situated in the central area of the 5A-level scenic area in Pinyao Town, Yuhang District. It is adjacent to Tiaoxi River, backed by Yaoshan Mountain, and connected to Liangzhu.

The charm of the Pingyao Old Street lies in its beautiful scenery everywhere. There are rows of old houses, nostalgic small streets and lanes, and neatly laid stone roads, making you feel like you've traveled back to the last century.

Along the Liyao Street, you can explore the eighteen alleys and eighteen wells of the old street, each alley with its unique characteristics.

The intangible cultural heritage block of Pingyao Old Street in Yuhang houses four intangible cultural heritage venues: the Pottery Art Museum, Yuhang Paper Umbrella Museum, Jade Carving Museum, and Kite Museum.

At the Pottery Art Museum, you can not only learn about pottery-making knowledge but also get hands-on experience in creating your own pottery or clay sculptures. It's a place where creativity flourishes, often leading to unexpected discoveries.

In the Yuhang Paper Umbrella Museum, you can learn about the thousand-year history of Chinese paper umbrellas and the traditional umbrella-making techniques inherited in Yuhang.

Liangzhu culture is the embodiment of China's five-thousand-year civilization, and Liangzhu jade carving is an important part of this inheritance. It showcases the wisdom and culture of ancient people. In the Jade Carving Museum, you can learn about the process of creating a jade artifact and even experience it firsthand.

In September 2014, Yuhang Kite was included in the protected list of "Hangzhou Intangible Cultural Heritage." In the Kite Museum, you can personally make a kite and then choose a sunny day to test your creation.

There is also a shop called "Nature Creation Folk Art Store" on the old street, which is transformed from Pinyao No. 1 Elementary School, a school with a history of over a hundred years. It has been renovated while preserving the original architecture, and traditional craftsmanship has been used for decorative purposes. It is a popular spot for taking photos.

Take a walk in the verdant mountain area. Follow the ancient path to ascend the Yaoshan Mountain Park, and you will be pleasantly surprised by the beauty of spring everywhere. Standing on the mountainside, you can overlook the old street and Tiaoxi River in the distance, which is quite a pleasant experience.

Strolling along the mountain hiking trails in the Yaoshan Mountain Park, you will be surrounded by the clear and melodious singing of birds and insects. Standing in the forest activity area, you can enjoy the breathtaking views in the distance.

The Yaoshan Restaurant inside the Landison Yiman Hotel is located halfway up Yaoshan Mountain Park. It is nestled against the mountain, with fresh air, elegance, and comfort. Surrounded by lush green trees, the restaurant seems to blend perfectly with nature.

As a demonstration restaurant in Yuhang's "Hundred Counties Thousand Bowls" program, it has the most understanding chefs who can cater to your taste. Local specialties and innovative dishes are readily available. With a comfortable dining environment and mouthwatering cuisine, all you need to do is to sit back and enjoy your meal.

In the evening, the Pingyao Old Street is like the stars shining in the night sky. It dances and radiates brilliant light, making the night sky lively and vibrant. The diverse nightlife scenes depict a vibrant and fascinating street.

Find a nice restaurant, order a few dishes, and sit by the river to enjoy your meal. It's so relaxing. Night views, night markets, nightlife, night food, and night shopping continue here.
