Hangzhou Theater


Located on the west side of Wulin Square in the business center of Hangzhou, Hangzhou Theater was constructed in 1978 with the approval of the late Premier Zhou Enlai. For the past 23 years, it has received more than 1,000 artistic troupes both from home and abroad and staged over 3,000 performances of various operas attended by five million people.


Hangzhou Theater started the expansion project in 2000, and completed and went into trial business in October 2002. After expansion, Hangzhou Theater occupies a total area of 9,536 square meters with a total floor space of 15,000 square meters. This five-story building is 22 meters high. Its exterior walls are made of transparent curtain-style glass. The theater has a total power load of 3,200 KVA with the adoption of the central heating system. The Audience Hall boasts more than 1,600 seats. Thus, it integrates multiple functions of performance, film show, cultural fair, leisure, and entertainment. Its stage mechanical system consists of lifting platforms, revolving platforms, moving platforms, sloping platforms, lifting orchestra pit, reversal anti-sound mantles, and 57-channel electric speed flyers. The stage sound equipment consists of EAM (an international brand) speakers, an SIS42-channel house console, 32-channel reverse sound console, all controlled by the network. The stage lighting system is equipped with 540 adjustment circuits, 120 direct circuits, GRAND, MA2048 house console, and a golden stage standby lighting console. The stage monitoring system has video cameras and wired and wireless interphones. The backstage has 11 makeup rooms and 3 costume rooms of various sizes. The film-playing system is equipped with a super large flat panel curtain and a digital stereo Hi-Fi reproducing system.
