White Pagoda Park is located in the south of Phoenix Hill scenic spot and the north shore of the Qiantang River. With the focus on the important Cultural Heritage under State Protection, Zhakou White Pagoda is also a protected and utilized historical buildings and railway industry site.
Built in the Five Dynasties, it was the landmark for ship navigation and the site of confluence of the canal and the Qiantang River. During the Northern and Southern Dynasties, Baita region became an extremely prosperous harbor. What’s more, it was the starting station of Jiangshu Railway in the period of the Republic of China.
It’s now a famous scenic spot with ancient historical sites and splendid natural landscapes. You can take the little train or a bicycle to appreciate brilliant places of interests such as the White Pagoda, railway remains and the Longshanzha site. Walking along the causeway, you will see the tidal bores, flying gulls and egrets and the erect ancient pagoda surrounded by blooming flowers and frondent trees.
