01 Sixinfang | A retro landmark from the Republic of China period
Sixinfang (思鑫坊) is known as the representative of Hangzhou's modern architectural culture. It was also a place where dragons hid and tigers crouched. Countless celebrities have gathered here in the past. Sixinfang is arguably half of Hangzhou's modern history.
This very representative traditional Shikumen style building group follows the Shikumen architectural style of Shanghai and other places, retains the typical style of "plain brick walls, carved lintels", and is rich in many local characteristics of Hangzhou as well. Not only does it have the features of traditional Chinese courtyard houses, but it has also absorbed Western townhouse models, which can be described as a combination of Chinese and Western styles.
When people complain about the fast pace of modern society and feel exhausted both physically and mentally, Sixinfang, located in the downtown area, seems to have stayed in the old days, and be staging a “Republic of China era melodrama”...
02 Mantoushan Community | Hangzhou-style Slow Life
Mantoushan Community (馒头山社区) is built on a mountain, located in the core area of the characteristic town of Southern Song Dynasty Imperial City. It is also the site of the Southern Song Dynasty Imperial City ruins. In the eyes of old Hangzhou people, it is the authentic root of "the Imperial City".
Travel through the clouds and mists of history and explore the national key cultural protection unit, the Sutra Building of the Brahma Temple, as well as historical sites such as the Yueyan Rock, the Shengguo Temple, and the Laohudong Official Kiln Ruins.
The antique temperament and cultural heritage of the historic imperial city have also attracted many cultural and artistic industries, and many cultural and creative parks, such as the Phoenix Yuan Art Base, have settled here. Creative shops such as photography studios, cafes and pottery shops also cluster here, and it seems to be a gathering place for literary and artistic youth.
03 "White Snake Feidu" Boardwalk | "Love-Themed" Green Oxygen Bar
It is a small park next to Wansong Academy (万松书院), famous for its skywalk and the secret land of The Wizard of Oz.
The design of the boardwalk is inspired by "The Legend of the White Snake", which meanders and hovers in mid-air, like a snake dancing.
Love poems are inscribed on the deck of the bridge along the way. Looking northwest from the bridge, you can see the Leifeng Pagoda. Love that travels through a thousand years, like this White Snake Bridge, spread with time.
The park is full of greenery and lush trees. It's a great place to feel the vitality of nature and take a walk to cool off.
