New Archeological Breakthrough Made in Liangzhu Ancient City

On November 29, the National Cultural Heritage Administration held a working meeting on the important progress of the "Archeology China" major projects, releasing new archeological progress made in four projects including Liangzhu Ancient City and the water conservancy system site in Hangzhou, Zhejiang.


The news findings in Liangzhu Ancient City and its water conservatory system site have preliminarily outlined the three development stages of Liangzhu Ancient City, from utilizing the landform of Shanqian to build scattered settlements, to planning and building water conservancy system, Mojianshan and Fanshan, and then to the construction of the Liangzhu Ancient City with city walls and outer city.   


New archeological findings and research results in recent years have reflected the gradual development of the settlement management and urban construction concepts of the Liangzhu people, as well as their belief system, showing the importance of the Liangzhu culture in the origin of China's Neolithic civilization.
