As a landmark in the north of the city, Wangcheng Pavilion is quite famous. It echoes with Chenghuang Pavilion on Wushan Hill in the south of the city. "Chen" refers to the North Star, and it later came to mean the residence of the emperor, and was also used as a term for the throne or the emperor himself. Gongchen Bridge in Gongshu District corresponds to the character "Chen" in Wangcheng Pavilion. Because Wangcheng Pavilion is located on the top of Gaoting Mountain, the only mountain in the north of the city, it was named "Wangcheng" (meaning "overlooking the city") because it offers a panoramic view of Hangzhou to the south.

Wangcheng Pavilion is located on the west side of the peak of Liangmaojian Mountain, which is 280 meters above sea level and is the main peak of Banshan National Forest Park. The main body of the pavilion is 42 meters high and very majestic. When you're in the Banshan area, you can easily spot it just by looking up. From tall buildings in Gongshu District, you should also be able to catch a glimpse of its magnificence.

Wangcheng Pavilion adopts the form of a multistory building with three visible floors and five hidden floors, which is a distinctive feature of Southern Song Dynasty architecture. The first floor is the entrance hall, the third and fifth floors are observation decks, and the second and fourth floors, hidden in the eaves, are open for visits. The fifth floor is the best viewing point of the entire building. Looking east, you can see Linping and the Qiantang River. Looking south, you can see almost the whole city of Hangzhou, and looking north, you can see the entire Hangzhou Iron and Steel Group and Chongxian New City.

Moreover, the pavilion is also rich in cultural and historical heritage. Well-selected national masters of arts and crafts have created Ou sculptures and meticulous wall paintings to inherit and pass on culture and enrich exhibitions, which has made the style and level of construction inside and outside the pavilion complement each other and has achieved the goal of learning about Gongshu and Hangzhou by visiting the pavilion only.

Therefore, take advantage of the refreshing autumn weather and bring your parents here to enjoy the scenery, take some photos, and have a rest and chat. It is definitely a great enjoyment.
