Through a piece of tea leaf, we can learn about Qiandao Lake.
Qiandao Lake is "the Land of Famous Teas" in China and a national key tea-producing area. It has over 195,000 mu* of tea gardens, covering 30 percent of Hangzhou’s total.
*The word “mu” is a Chinese unit of area and 1 mu is roughly equal to 666 square meters.
Among them, over 30 thousand-mu tea gardens are scattered around on over 300 islands that are embraced by emerald-green water. Let’s have a look at these “most beautiful tea gardens on the lake” together.
Damuzhi Tea Garden 大拇指茶园
Cunkeng Village (村坑村) of Lishang Town is located along Chunyang Line, adjacent to Qiandao Lake. It is a small bay village with convenient water and land transportation. In Cunkeng Village, walking into terraced fields and onto islands, you’ll see tea gardens everywhere.
On Damuzhi Island in Cunkeng Village, you'll find "the most beautiful tea garden". It features white egrets flying around, floating white clouds, and calm and crystal-clear water, and is abundant in high-quality Huxin Tea (湖心茶). With the arrival of spring, tea trees in the garden sprout new leaves one after another, and the fragrance of tea leaves permeates the air, very refreshing and pleasant.

Matcha Villa 抹茶庄园
Fengshuling Town’s “most beautiful Matcha Villa” is located in Loudi New Village on the banks of Qiandao Lake. The tea garden covers an area of over 600 mu. Growing in between the lake and the islands and surrounded by undulating mountains, tea trees here are blessed with a superior growing environment with ample sunshine and rainfall and fertile soil.
In the tea garden, lush tea trees allow people to return to their desired pastoral life. Embraced by verdant mountains and emerald-green water, the minds of people are able to get relaxed and cleansed.

Bieyouxiang Tea Garden 别有香茶园
In March, the scenery is great, and again it’s time for new tea leaves to sprout.
Bieyouxiang Organic Ecological Tea Garden is located on Laoshan Island surrounded by water on four sides. The tea garden is embraced by forests and is accompanied by the beautiful Qiandao Lake. Several thousand mu of tea gardens are seen tier upon tier next to mountains, resembling a charming green-colored painting.
The place features four distinct seasons, abundant rainfall, humid climate, fresh air, fertile soil, and more diffused light. The special lake area microclimate exclusive to Qiandao Lake makes the several thousand mu slopes in Laoshan Island a treasured place suitable for tea trees to grow.

Jinkengwan Tea Garden 金坑湾茶园
Every March, savoring a cup of high-quality spring tea is a ritual that one should have in spring. Anyang Town (安阳乡) is located in the southwestern part of Chun'an county. The town is near mountains and by the water and enjoys a superior ecological environment, unique climate conditions, and a pollution-free natural environment, which make the town a fertile land to grow high-quality tea leaves.
Looking around, in between lush tea gardens, the dense green tea leaves form a sea of greenery, and tea-leaf pickers bend in the green sea to pick tea leaves, composing an intoxicating painting of spring scenery.
