Heqiao Ancient Town has a history of over 1300 years. It was commercially prosperous, economically developed, and culturally thrived since ancient times. It enjoys such reputations as “the First Town of Ancient Changhua County”, “Little Shanghai” and “Qinghuai of Western Zhejiang”. There has been the saying, “The small Changhua County with the big Heqiao Town”.

Heqiao is home to many historical and cultural relics, and boasts a beautiful environment and rich tourism resources. It is a rich, beautiful and unique treasure place on the western border of Lin’an. It has two major scenic areas, China Ruijing Stone Flower Cave (瑞晶石花洞) and Liuxi River (柳溪江), the most beautiful women river in western Zhejiang. Heqiao Ancient Street of ancient charm has been included on the list of the provincial historical and cultural preservation areas in 2000.

The Heqao Ancient Street that backs onto mountains and is near water stands in western Zhejiang with many ancient Huizhou-style buildings on it. Strolling along the ancient street, you will see time-honored shops, residential houses, lanes, city gates, moats, and docks standing in great number and the beautiful setting sun. Its fame has attracted many cultural relics experts to come, who praised, “The charm of Heqiao Ancient Street is so well-preserved that is rarely seen in the world.”
