In the ancient Tangxi Town, you can say that every household makes preserved fruits, and preserved fruits can be seen basking in the sun in front of and at the back of every house. The development of Tangxi’s preserved fruits can be traced back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). By virtue of the convenient transportation brought by the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, Tangxi’s preserved fruits were sold to different parts of the country as early as over 400 years ago. Now, the preserved fruit-making technique is a traditional technique included on the Yuhang Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
