The China Cartoon And Animation Museum (中国动漫博物馆), a national-level museum approved by the National Radio and Television Administration and China Animation Association will officially open on June 26, 2021!
The museum is located on the banks of Baima Lake (白马湖) in Binjiang District (滨江区). The main building covers an area of 30,382 square meters and resembles a white “auspicious cloud”, full of fantastic features of cartoon and animation.
Distinct from traditional museums, China Cartoon and Animation Museum has set up a theater, a film and television zone, a library, an audiovisual room, and other cartoon and animation supporting functional zones in addition to the four permanent exhibition halls. The museum houses over twenty thousand pieces of cartoon and animation-related collections like key-animators, scripts, historical materials, publications, models, peripheral products, etc.
Lobby
Walking into the lobby of the museum, the first to meet visitors’ eyes is a giant cartoon and animation video installation that covers the entire atrium, which is 38 meters high and has a circumference of over 300 meters. The video installation shows many classical Chinese cartoon and animation works, which are of strong visual impact, making viewers feel as if they were there and instantly putting viewers on a fantastic cartoon and animation tour.
“Cartoon and Animation | the Memory” Exhibition Hall
The exhibition hall on the 2nd floor displays the development of the cartoon and animation industry in China from the budding period to the reform and opening up period.
Here, you can see a four-act film depicting the life experiences of “the Wan Brothers”, the Chinese cartoon and animation pioneers, and you will know how they dedicated their lives to the Chinese cartoon and animation industry; you can transform yourself into Sun Wukong, the Monkey King in the animation “Prince Iron Fan”, holding the palm-leaf fan to put out the raging flames; you can try your hand at operating the big cartoon and animation camera and learn about the photography skills of traditional Chinese cartoon and animation; you can also stroll in the streets from the 1980s and experience browsing comics in a green news kiosk and watching animations in small cinemas.
“Cartoon and Animation | the Present” Exhibition Hall
The exhibition hall is located on the 3rd floor of the museum. Here, you can enjoy a large number of cartoons, animations, and online games on the giant bubble screen; you can participate in the process of making cartoons, animations, and online games; you can enjoy the fun of being a professional voice actor and can also transform yourself to the characters in the cartoon and animation works to enjoy the fun of COSPLAY through black technologies.
“Cartoon and Animation | the Future” Exhibition Hall
The exhibition hall on the 4th floor uses AR, VR, MR, and other cool black technologies to put the wings of imagination on cartoons and animations, and show visitors the applications and development of cartoons and animations in different fields via the idea of “cartoon and animation +”.

Opening hours: 9:30-16:30 from Wednesday to Sunday starting from June 26, 2021 (no entry after 16:00); closed on Monday and Tuesday (except legal holidays)*
*If legal holidays fall on Monday and Tuesday, then the closing of the museum is accordingly postponed.
Reservation method: Both individuals and groups need to make an online reservation in advance. Please follow the official WeChat account of China Cartoon and Animation Museum (中国动漫博物馆) to make a reservation. The number of visitors per day is limited to 1000, i.e. 500 in the morning and 500 in the afternoon.
