Wangxingji Fan (王星记扇) was originally founded in Shanzi (Fan) Lane (扇子巷) in1875 in the first year of Guangxu years of the Qing Dynasty. It now has a history of over 140 years and has always been known as “the King of Fans” for its strict material selection, fine workmanship, elegant appearance and high taste. It has inherited the quintessence of the thousand-year-old China fan technique, retained the ancient and traditional Hangzhou fan producing technique, used 100 percent natural materials and is purely made with hands. It features complicated and refined craft with its decorations integrating golden paint, calligraphy, engraving, inlay and other techniques, making it a practical and aesthetic handicraft. The black fan and the sandalwood fan are the most typical, winning many honors both at home and abroad.
