Banshan National Forest Park

Hangzhou Banshan National Forest Park is located in the northeast of Gongshu District, Hangzhou, 10 kilometers away from the city center of Hangzhou. It is the only large mountain in the north of Hangzhou, with a total area of 1002.88 hectares.


Hangzhou Banshan National Forest Park is a part of the Tianmu Mountain Range. The highest peak is Huanghe Mountain, which is 313.3 meters above sea level, followed by Banshan Mountain, which is 283.9 meters above sea level. The mountain has relatively gentle slopes. The percentage of forest cover in the park is over 90%, with 931.81 hectares forest area. And there are 671 species of wild plants, among which 5 species are national protected plants. Broad-leaved forests are the dominant vegetation in the park, sorted into three types: deciduous broad-leaved forests, mixed evergreen and deciduous broad-leaved forests and evergreen broad-leaved forests. The park is home to many wild animals, birds and insects, among which 14 species are national key protected animals, and all of them are second-level protected animals. 


In January 2011, Hangzhou Banshan National Forest Park was approved as a national forest park by China’s National Forestry and Grassland Administration.
