The Chaptel building complex was constructed in the 1930s, with a total construction area of about 3,322 square meters. The building complex consists of two rows of buildings in the east and west, which are connected by arcades in the middle. It is a relatively early, large, exquisite, and complete new-style Shikumen lane-style residential house complex in Hangzhou. •History: In the 1930s, Mr. Zhang Yichun (张义纯), who was the chairman of Anhui during the Republic of China Era, built the Chaptel building complex. In 2007, the Chaptel building complex was listed as cultural and historical protection architecture.

• History：Yinlu is the residential house of Major General Lv Min'gui (吕民贵) during the Republic of China Era and is designed all by himself. The architecture applies the Ionic Order of ancient Greek, mosaic and other elements, which have been well preserved along with exquisitely carved decorations on the wooden stairs and door and window frames.

Xiajiu Restaurant 夏久餐厅
The upgraded Xiajiu Restaurant on the second floor of the Chaptel not only brings French Cuisine to West Lake but also integrates the elements of West Lake into its French Cuisine. The team of chefs doesn’t stick to traditional forms of French Cuisine and by fully exploring the characteristics of local food ingredients, they give the historical French Cuisine a new oriental interpretation through incorporating seasonal elements into cooking according to seasonal changes.
In line with its creative dishes, it also breaks the norms in its selection of wines. Besides wines from traditional production areas and popular wine types, there are also emerging organic wines, natural wines, small-yield Huangjiu (yellow rice wine) that is produced in Zhejiang and Jiangsu areas, sake, etc.
