At present, there are over 9,900 taxis operating in Hangzhou downtown, so getting around Hangzhou by taxi is the most convenient way to travel. Although there are taxi stands on the main roads, they are not very useful; it is much easier to hail a taxi from wherever you are.


 

Hangzhou Taxi Fare Scale

Hangzhou taxi drivers use a meter as required by law. Starting price is 10 Yuan within the first 3 kilometers, plus 1 Yuan fuel charge. The price adjusts from 2 Yuan to 2.5 Yuan per kilometer when the distance for taxi driving is between 3 and 10 kilometers. When the distance is over 10 kilometers, the price is 3 Yuan per kilometer.

 

For luxury taxis (Mercedes Benz models), price starts at 10 Yuan for the first 2.5 kilometers; between 2.5 kilometers and 8 kilometers, then 3 Yuan per kilometer; beyond 8 kilometers, 5 Yuan per kilometer. No additional fees for peak or night times.

Tips:
1. Please avoid taking a taxi from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Since taxi drivers usually change shifts at this period, it would be hard to hail a taxi then.
2. Please ask of a receipt each time you use a taxi, in case that you want to contact the taxi company or driver at later time to dispute a fare, or recover a lost article, etc.
