The lifestyle in the Song Dynasty (960-1279) that is described as “Literary pursuits seen everywhere is a common scene”, and the meaningful and profound life aesthetics continue to this day, and are embedded into the modern “Hang-style life”. To deepen the construction of Hangzhou as a historically and culturally famous city, to promote the brand of “Hang-Style Life of Song Dynasty Charm (宋韵杭式生活)", the selection and review activity of “Hang-Style Life of Song Dynasty Charm" Experience Bases & Places organized by Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, TV and Tourism has been held. It is its first.
The culture, radio, TV, tourism and sports bureaus of different levels and special potential associations actively made recommendations. There are altogether 127 enterprises filing applications. After field inspection, guidance and review, three “Hang-Style Life of Song Dynasty Charm" Experience Bases and 12 “Hang-Style Life of Song Dynasty Charm" Experience Places were selected and announced as follows,

The Southern Song Imperial Street · Qinghefang is a famous historical and cultural street that has the most profound history, the most prominent historical position and the most representative features in Hangzhou. It comprehensively presents the historical vicissitudes and historical features of Hangzhou. The street takes “Hang-Style Life of Song Dynasty Charm" Culture as the core and “urban tourism” as the mainline, and dedicates to the inheritance and display of “Hang-Style Life of Song Dynasty Charm" Culture. Experience activities like “Qinghefang Folk Tea Gathering (清河坊民间茶会)”, “Southern Song Culture Festival (南宋文化节)”, “Wushan Temple Fair (吴山庙会)” are staged in turn, vividly recreating the charm of Hangzhou’s history and culture.

"Song Dynasty Charm" Huantang Wuyi Culture Village 宋韵欢潭五义文化村
Huantang Village (欢潭村) is located in the southern part of Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou. In the Southern Song Dynasty, General Yuefei and his army passed the place and “rejoiced after drinking the water from the pool in the village”, hence, the village gained its name, Huantang (Rejoice and Pool). The village features five “Yi (public benefit)” spirits, that is, Yicang (local public welfare granary), Yixue (free schools), Yizhen (see patients on a volunteer basis), Yidu (free ports), and Yizang (free burials). Chenghuang Tower is adjacent to the historical site of the Southern Song Dynasty imperial palace. It is situated at the top of Wushan Hill, a blessed and culturally-important site, and is a quaint building complex that features the Southern Song imperial style. The treasure of the Southern Song Culture Style Demonstration Area (南宋文化风情展示区), “the Painting of Hangzhou Life During the Southern Song Dynasty” explicitly depicts the various types of life in Hangzhou City during the Southern Song Dynasty.

Song Dynasty Jade Ware Art Gallery 宋代玉器艺术馆
Song Dynasty Jade Ware Art Gallery is a Song Dynasty jade ware-themed exhibition art gallery. The art gallery now has collected over 300 pieces of jade ware from the Song Dynasty. Many of them are important works in the circles of culture and museum and art collection in the country, and are rare and precious fundamental materials for the inheritance and promotion of the pluralistic development of the Song Dynasty culture and jade culture. The art gallery holds Song Dynasty jade ware exhibitions, carries out "Song Dynasty Charm" culture forums and offers visitors chances to experience jade carving on a regular basis, which has enriched the cultural elements of the ancient capital, Hangzhou.

Cheng Xiang Tang for years has been focusing on the collection and research of incense, and has brought incense, the ancient and elegant Southern Song culture and art into modern people’s quality life. Cheng Xiang Tang meets with the like-minded and literati from all over the country through literati gatherings, incense gatherings, tea gatherings, painting exhibitions, concerts, and the introduction of incense Taoism and flower arranging. Xihu Guqin Society 西湖琴社
Zhejiang School of Guqin was established during the Southern Song Dynasty. It is the first systematic Guqin School in China. Xihu Guqin Society, as the origin of neo Zhejiang School of Guqin, takes the exchange of Guqin art and the inheritance of Zhejiang School of Guqin art as its responsibilities. It holds Guqin public benefit training classes and special performances from time to time, and actively participates in Guqin seminars and special lectures in various areas. Come to Xihu Guqin Society and you can listen to Guqin music, taste tea and experience the Guqin beginner fingering method and the opening ditty.

The development of Fuyang Bamboo Paper Culture is closely connected with the historical development of the Southern Song Dynasty and they complemented each other. The elegance of the Southern Song Dynasty gives the bamboo paper the noble and unsullied soul. Also, the rising of bamboo paper has witnessed the prosperity of the Southern Song Dynasty culture. The Yuanshu Paper Culture Demonstration Hall uses illustrations to recreate the technological process of the paper farmers in the Song Dynasty whittling bamboo to prepare materials for pulping and papermaking and offers experience activities such as ancient papermaking, calligraphy, painting, Song Dynasty Ink, Chinese calligraphy brush pen, movable-type printing and rubbing so that visitors can feel the charm of traditional Chinese culture.

Tianmuzhan “Tianmu Yiping” Production and Demonstration Center
天目盏“天目一品”制作展示中心
Tianmu Mountain Culture is closely bound up with West Lake Culture and Southern Song Dynasty Culture. During the Song Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty, there were almost one hundred Tianmu ancient kilns in Tianmu Mountain, which mainly produced black-glazed ceramics and celadon and porcelain. Tianmu Mountain has already become an important attraction for people to experience the culture of nature and the culture of Song and Yuan dynasties in the Yangtze River Delta. Here, visitors can smell tea fragrance and savor tea while listening to the ringing of the morning bell, appreciate Tianmuzhan for free and personally participate in making ceramics.

Songyan (Restaurant) 宋宴
Songyan is located inside Hupao Park (虎跑公园). It restores the architecture style of the Southern Song Dynasty. Every brick and tile brims with quaint and classical charm. All dishes of Songyan are Southern Song Dynasty delicacies recreated by the chief team according to ancient books. Every taste of it is full of history and stories. Coming here, visitors can also have photos taken in Hanfu clothing for free, and feel the four activities of the Southern Song literati, i.e. “burning incense, making tea, appreciating paintings and arranging flowers”.

Qiantang Guanli 钱塘观礼
Qiantang Guanli is an immersive Southern Song Dynasty cultural aesthetical space that integrates four cultural IPs of the Song Dynasty, respectively the Southern Song ancient capital Hangzhou, the girl hair-pinning ceremony performance, Song Dynasty-style ancient courtyard architecture, and Chinese traditional clothing top brand “Jing Lian Man Tang (Pure Lotuses Fill the House; 净莲满堂)”. It consists of two areas, the Song-style ancient courtyard and inside space. Visitors can sit with some of their friends in one of the rooms, drinking tea, chatting, enjoying the beautiful views of the courtyard and taking photos to mark the occasion.

Huiyin Korean Temple · Huiyin Hushuyuan 慧因高丽寺·慧因湖书院
Huiyin Korean Temple is the only thousand-year temple that is presented mainly with the environment outside the Song style architecture and integrates cultural heritage, architecture aesthetics and garden art. Now it has had two regularly-held "Song Dynasty Charm" cultural aesthetics sharing activities, namely, “Hu Shang Feng Ya (湖上风雅; Literal Pursuits on the Water)” and “Wu Juan Ming Ji (無倦茗集; Wujuan Tea Gathering)”. It has the most complete original "Song Dynasty Charm" space and ware presentation system, and also spares no effort to create the theme immersive-style experience TV series, “Song Style Twelve Things”.
