“You Who Came From the Stars —— Meteorite Special Exhibition”
This month, the "You Who Came From the Stars —— Meteorite Special Exhibition" was released in Zhejiang Museum of Natural History. More than 300 fragments of meteorites are exhibited, covering all kinds of rare meteorites from home and abroad. Now, all the mysteries surrounding meteorites can be answered in this exhibition…

The exhibition is composed of four sections. It comprehensively reflects the general picture of contemporary research and collection of meteorites. It reveals the source, formation and falling procedure of meteorites, rock classification and identification, the relationship between meteorites and life on earth, and other various aspects of knowledge. At the same time, there is also a meteorite interactive experience area, where you can personally touch meteorite exhibits, observing them under a microscope to gain a more intuitive understanding of meteorites.

On June 1, some meteorites from a meteor shower fell near Mengqi Town, Menghai County, Xishuangbanna Prefecture, Yunnan Province and in this exhibition, one is fortunate to witness some pieces of debris fresh from one of these landings. These meteorites have not been weathered on earth, they retain all kinds of information, in a natural way, of the asteroid belt of the solar system. So, they are of great scientific value.

In addition to the new extra-terrestrial, there are also rare meteorites in the exhibition. There are more than nine pieces of meteorites with each one weighing more than 100 kilograms. The largest one is from Nandan, Guangxi, weighing 800 kilograms. Meteorites from Mars, the moon and Vesta are also on display.

The exhibition will last until October 7. The ticket price is 30 yuan for adults and 20 yuan for children.
