Brief of Lakeside Park

Located in the western bank of the West Lake, Lakeside Park is a collective name for six different-sized parks lining along the one-kilometer-long bank. These parks are named according to their order, such as No. 1 Lakeside Park, No. 2 Lakeside Park etc. Endowed with gracious sceneries, it is a scenic area one should never miss when traveling in Hangzhou.

Although located in the bustling downtown area, Lakeside Park is a place of tranquility, featuring lush green trees, colorful flowers and exquisite pavilions to enjoy, as well as stone tables and chairs for resting, chatting and tea-tasting, making it a wonderful place to spend some leisure time.

In addition, Lakeside Park offers a vantage point to appreciate the magnificent sceneries of the West Lake. Standing inside the park, it looks like that a piece of giant Chinese traditional ink is hung in front of you which changes along with the season and weather. On sunny days, the breeze ripples the shining water, making it a piece of flying green silk, while on rainy days, the lake is enveloped in mists, rather poetic. In spring, pink peach blossoms and green willows compete for beauty; in summer, green lotus leaves set off pink lotus blossoms which dominate much of the water surface of the West Lake; in autumn, the city flower – osmanthus fills the air with its scented smell and in winter, West Lake is covered in whites.
