Hangzhou Blooms in Late Autumn
On November 13, for three days only, the 1st International Flower Exhibition for the West Lake International Expo will be held in Yangjia Village (杨家村), Shiqiao Street (石桥街道) in Xiacheng District. The flower exhibition, the largest of its kind in Hangzhou’s history, will take bloom by displaying floral emblems of 25 countries, more than 1,000 species of flower and 100,000 pots.

South Africa, Greece, Fiji and Burma are just some of the 25 countries participating in this event and besides the visual spread of color from all the floral pieces displayed, visitors will also be able to learn, through illustrated descriptions, about floral cultures too.

For fans of fat plants, or caudiciforms as they are also known, the exhibition will display over 50,000 pots which, contributed by botanical gardens around the country as well as the fat plants association and one hundred exhibiting companies, will include several hundred rare species and fine varieties from Japan, Korean and Holland.

What is also worth mentioning is that the business giant in the industry of fat plant cultivation - Shanghai Xiping Gardening Co., Ltd - will be presenting 10 thousand RMB worth of Haworthia plants, which is not something you get to see every day.

Furthermore, the exhibition boasts a 20 thousand sq m sales zone where 100 thousand plants are for sale and there is even a special flower supermarket where plants cost only 10 RMB.

During the three day exhibition, clay modeling, flower shows, planting fat plants and classes on cultivating flowers are also available.
