This medicated meal was named Qianlong Tai Chi Rice because of its origins with Emperor Qianlong.
The owner of Liang’s Villa where Guang Xing Tang was located, Liang Kentang (梁肯堂), was the Minister of the Ministry of Punishments during Emperor Qianlong's reign. He was honest and incorruptible. He also studied health preservation methods and lived a long life.
Legend has it that Emperor Qianlong visited Liang's Villa during his inspection tour to Jiangnan Region. Liang Kentang has ingeniously added a dish of "Tai Chi Rice" he created to Hangzhou's special dishes, saying that "by balancing yin and yang, the country will be in peace, and the body will be healthy." Hearing this, Emperor Qianlong got very happy, praised the "Tai Chi Rice" for its sweetness, softness, refreshing taste, deliciousness and with a better meaning. Since then, "Tai Chi Rice" was renamed "Qianlong Tai Chi Rice", which has been passed down to this day and has become one of the signature dishes of Guangxing Medicated Diet.
